TFA Scholarships

Every year the TFA awards scholarships, the Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association Scholarship (Full-Time and Part-Time), the Leadership Award and the Aboriginal Student Award. 2023 Scholarship Recipients

Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association Scholarships

Purpose

The Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association acknowledges the efforts of students who maintain academic proficiency, and demonstrate a commitment to Social Justice and/or Labour Relations, both on- and off-campus.

Amount

Two (2) awards in the amount of $3,000 each are available for students in full-time degree programs. One (1) award in the amount of $2,000 is available for a part-time student in a part-time degree program.

Eligibility

Students are expected to:

Be registered in a full-time or part-time degree program.

Maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average.

Have a clear academic standing.

Have completed at least 50% of the curriculum.

Application requirements

A complete application includes the attached form, signed and dated, as well as a one-page letter, written by the student, outlining their commitment to Social Justice and/or Labour Relations, and a resumé.

Indigenous Student Award

Purpose

Annually, the Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association acknowledges the efforts of Indigenous students who maintain academic proficiency, as well as demonstrate a commitment to Social Justice and/or Labour Relations both on and off-campus.

Amount

Two (2) scholarships of $3,000 each will be awarded as follows:

One (1) graduate student will receive $3,000 to assist with educational expenses

One (1) undergraduate student will receive $3,000 to assist with educational expenses

Eligibility

Students are expected to:

Be of Indigenous Ancestry (First Nations, Inuit, Métis, non-Status, Status)

Have a good academic record

Be studying at Toronto Metropolitan University full-or part-time

Write an essay

Application requirements

A complete application includes the attached form, signed and dated, as well as a two-page essay, double-spaced, and written by the student. The essay will provide evidence of a strong connection linking the student’s studies to Indigenous communities, by describing the student’s past and/or current involvement in the Indigenous community and future plans for his or her participation in that community.
